Rafting in New Zealand is the stuff of legends. Rafting in Rotorua is one of the places where these legends are born. It is here where rivers that were thought to be impossible to navigate became icons of rafting around the world. A perfect case in point is the Kaituna River. It took a few brave river guides to trial-and-error the river a few times before it became obvious that the waterfalls in the Kaituna were, in fact, “runnable”. Not only are the waterfalls navigable, they are probably the best part of the river! In what is already one of the most fun rivers in the world, the Kaituna is also one of the most beautiful.
Rotorua Rafting and its guides know this fact, which is we spend as much time on the river as we can. The ferns, the birds, the narrow gorges, the super-fun rapids: these are too incredible to pass by without notice.
