Not just rafting, we are making Okere Falls even better!
A big part of Rotorua Rafting’s mission is about conserving 🌿 and sustaining our backyard in Okere Falls, 💦 so that in years to come, we still have an amazing place to call home, but making it even better!! 🤙
We thought we would share a little of what we have been doing in the last couple of weeks. Not just white water rafting on the best river in the world but we are building back better.
In 2019, we cleared just over 12’000 square metres of blackberry and gorse in the Okere Falls reserve, right on the edge of the Kaituna River, with the goal to replant in native trees.
As they say, Do the Mahi… get the treats!
And we can’t wait to see the growth and progress!
But how can you help?
It is super easy, when you book directly you can now donate $2.50 per booking, which will go directly into buying a native tree 🌳 for the Okere Falls reserve!
Help us, reach our goal of 10,000 native trees🌳 🤞🙌
BEFORE – 2019
Only a year ago – this piece of farmland had been taken over by gorse. Clearing 12’000 square metres of gorse and blackberry sure was hot work, but we had a goal and achieved some amazing results!
NOW – 2020
The farmland is now ready for planting! And we are ready to plant our first native tree!
Day 1 – 6.30am
The Earlybird catches the worm 🐛and we had our awesome crew out and planting trees. The first day we planted over 500!
Day Two – another 500 🌳🌳🌳
That’s over 1000 trees planted in two days, which covers about 2000 of the 12’000 cleared.
Day 3 – we planted, another 500 trees, this time at the ‘put in’ of the Kaituna River.
We are all so passionate about our backyard and ensuring that it will still be awesome for locals and visitors for many years to come.
Help us, reach our goal of 10,000
